Harrogate and District Summer Race League final positions

Harrogate and District Summer Race League final positions

Without a handicap race this year, here are the final positions of the league:

Harrogate won the main competition comfortably, followed by Ripon and Nidd Valley. This competition is based on the top 10 finishers from each club (men and ladies), so those clubs who pack the top 50 do well. It’s worth noting that these 3 clubs often have up to twice the entries of other clubs in the league. Otley finished 7 overall, and got a really good number of club members out on the roads and trails of North Yorkshire.

In the Elite competition which is based on the cumulative TIME of the first 3 runners over the league Otley AC finished 3rd behind Harrogate and Ilkley. Not a bad result after losing a few quicker members over the last few years.

Ladies team were 9th behind winners, err, Harrogate

Male Vets were 7th behind…Harrogate

Ladies Vets 11th with the winners Harrogate

Super Vets  (v55 and above) a great 4th place behind Harrogate 🙂

Individual results as follows, but Scott Harrington had a brilliant series, with a very fast and competitive top-end all the way through, finishing 3rd behind Rob Little (Ilkley) and Reece Dalton (Richmond and Zetland).

  1. Scott H. had a brilliant series indeed , his running was really efficient . Junior Holly D. had great running in this series of Harrogate races gaining loads of experiences competing with the seniors . Sara E. was just outstanding with her performances , she is a powerhouse . Graham L. had a fantastic season , I had never seen Graham running so fast . Also Joanna H. was impressive with her running , she is stronger this year . Laurel F. is consistent improving her running race after race , and fell runner Tom L. is doing well on the trail as well . Phil R. is just awesome . Well done to everyone .

  2. This was my first HL and I really enjoyed the 2 races I managed to run – Skipton and Ilkley, even though they were pretty ‘undulating’. shame I got injured in the last part of Ilkley and couldn’t finish the rest of the races. (due to me doing a few hard runs pretty close together)
Will be back again next year though.. Hopefully faster and a bit stronger! If anyone has never done this you really need to enter, they are great fun and there is food after! What more reason do you need? 🙂
Everyone has done really well, there are some fast runners out there. For the size of our club compared to the top 3 I think we do pretty well.. Good work the Black and Whites!
