Would the record go this year?…. Certainly helpful bone dry underfoot conditions but this was negated to some extent with the sticky 24, 25 degree heat, and yes it was.  Richard Pattinson’s course record was  broken in style by City of York’s Tim Stratton, 53:07.  He was chased hard by Will Simmons from Ilkley who also dipped under the record with 53:36.  The Vets category prizes went to V40, Gareth Green in 6th 57:09, 1st V50 Nick Charlesworth 1:00:12, 1st V60 Stephen Morran 1:07:22, 1st V70 & V75 Norman Bush with an outstanding time of 1:19:47 beating Peter Covey’s age 70 record.

Nik Tarega made it 3 wins in a row, getting quicker each year, 1:05:11.  Zoe Barber took 2nd, 1:07:02.  The veteran prizes went to:  1st V40 Rachel Carter 1:14:02, 1st V50 Sarah Gill 1:20:56, 1st V60 Helen Love 1:32:23.

Ilkley took the first team prize, (2 & 2 mixed) with Will Simmons, Nathan Edmondson, Helen Thurston and Rachel Carter.

This year’s Otley contingent were headed by Vicky Stainburn, 4th lady, 1:11:34, not far behind Laura McCabe, 5th lady, 1:11:46,  Graham Lake 1:12:44,  Matt Podd 1:27:46,  Colin Best 1:32:59,  David Cattanach 2:07:57, and the one and only Antonio Cardinale 2:26:03.

And finally a big thanks to everyone who helped out, it can’t be done with out you..  I’m sure all the runners were particularly grateful for Emma & Bob Payne lugging enough water & ice for everyone up the track to the third checkpoint.

  1. Merit to Andrew R. for having organized one of the most beautiful fell races around the country . A big thank you to all the marshals , especially to Bob P. and to Emma P. for the well appreciated fresh lovely water that was really needed in those hot temperatures . Former boss Matt P. had a great run over Round Hill , his 1.27 is significant of his good form at the moment . Also senior member and fell runner Colin B. did a powerful run finishing in 1.32 . Vicky S. was really fast in 1.11 . Well done all .
