Report from Stephen Boddy:
International man of mystery, Antonio Cardinale cemented himself further into Otley AC folklore by completing the notoriously challenging ‘Burnsall double’, a day’s running even Darren Fishwick would be proud of. This involves running the undulating 10 mile road race at 2pm and following on to the Fell race which starts at 4.30pm. Antonio completed the double in style and with a smile on his face, even maintaining his composure enough to change vests in between races from his white road vest to his black fell number. Watching Antonio warm up for the Fell race, it is clear how popular a figure he is in the running community with so many runners from other clubs giving him a nod and a smile as he trotted past. Molto bene Antonio.
The road race saw the welcome return to racing for Richard Smith who eased himself into competitive action with a 7th placed finish, completing the route in 62 mins. He was followed home by Graham Lake and Rogan Ashton who both came in well under 70mins on a tough course. Chris Chambers was next for the Black and Whites, then Sara Elliott, the sole female representative on the day, and Billy Raynor, David Cattenach and Antonio.
