Sunday 14th October: Rombalds Romp fell race

Report from Matt Podd:

John Dade and I travelled to this local BM fell race with Dave Tait. 13km and 370m of climbing on Ilkley Moor. Waiting in the rain we met Liam, Steve and Antonio also up for some muddy fun. Off up Keighley Gate road to where it levels off and then down to the main edge path and along to above Addingham Moorside, up to the woods and through them to the other side of Keighley Gate road. Up this on tarmac to the gate then over the moor going east to a chackpoint in the middle. a nice descent and then back west to descend to the main edge path again and back west to the finish above Ilkley. Very nice , mainly runnable route in proper fell running weather – chilly with unrelenting rain.

Alisdair Mcleod, Leeds City won in 50.39

Lucy Collins, CVFR was first woman and 16th in 1.03.36

Liam Dunne 10th in 1.00.48 (even though he’d been up half the night with William)

Steve Robinson 39th in 1.11.32

Matt Podd 75th in 1.25.28

John Dade 78th in 1.25.49

Antonio Cardinale 95th in 2.10.45

  1. Fantastic coming back to races of Liam D. he crossed the finish line in an incredible time of 1.00 to do 13k with 370 m of climbing considering as well the atrocious weather conditions Liam indeed deserve the prestigious 10th position in a high competitive field of top fell runners . Also Matt P. did a superb fell race , his time of 1.25 is fast running . Well done everyone .

  2. Thanks Antonio, kind words as usual. I picked up your prize of
beer and chocolates for first over 65, so well done you. I knew you meant business when you turned up in those shorts!
