Report by the Hon. Handicapper..
A cold, wet day but thankfully no wind to speak of for the traditional Christmas handicap first run in 1989, see the race report here. The Christmas handicap was devised by yes you guessed it, former member Mr Dixon. Myself and Phil Robinson ran that day and neither have ever won in the 30 years since, a second for Phil in 1990 the best placing. However Antonio became the third person to take a second win, (1st in 2005), after Phil Dean & Kath Robertshaw, a brilliant effort, just over 7 minutes quicker than last year.
Bob Payne had no trouble holding onto his lead in the Eric Smith Handicap trophy, finishing ahead of Tom Hannah and Andy Webster just pipping David Cattanach for 3rd by 0.5 points, see the full table here.
It all starts afresh on January 12th at the John Cowan Harewood Handicap, why not give it a go next year. 🙂
