Saturday 23rd March – Eccup New Inn Handicap

The New Inn at Eccup hosted March’s Eric Smith trophy race which turned out to be the third consecutive runaway win.  Ian finishing 2 and a half minutes clear of the chasing pack, Ursula just beating Billy for second. Liam recorded the fastest time of the day.  With a few tips from Steve Cram? Paul Clifford retains his lead in the handicap table 3 points ahead of Chris Halliday and 5 on Ursula McGouran and a special mention for Nicola running her first handicap after a park run at Potternewton Park.  See the full table here.

David Fox celebrated his 100th club handicap with a fifth place, his first being the Farnley route in June 92.  The 100 includes 8 wins, including one on today’s course in 1999 .

The lighter summer evenings sees the handicap races move to club nights, the next race is the Fewston Handicap, Thursday 25th 7:15pm start.

  1. Congratulations to Ian B. for the splendid victory at the Eric S. Trophy race 4 , Ian crossed the finish line in a fast 31.04 . Congratulations too to David fox for his 100th club handicap races , David did finish in 5th position with a brilliant 35.44 . Also Congratulations to Nicola S. for her first club race , Nicola passed me at double speed , she had an efficient stride and went to finish in a very good 35.48. Ursula M. is in great form , her 35.35 is a solid time to do . Liam D. time of 26.16 is fabulous . Well done to everyone .
