Monday 27th May – Austwick Amble Fell Race

Austwick Amble fell race took place on Monday 27th May. 169 seniors took part.

The race starts and finishes in the stunning village of Austwick village centre. The race is run over a loop circuit of approx. 8miles/13km and covers a total ascent of 1200ft/370m.

The outward journey over the first 4miles passes through the beautiful Crummock dale limestone scenery and briefly joins Sulber Nick ( which connects the Yorkshire peaks of Pen-y-Ghent and Ingleborough). The return leg descends slowly back through spectacular scenery to Austwick and to the start point on the village green.

Race winner Tim Stratton of City of York and Leeds Uni time 48:41, he also broke the course record by 3 seconds.

  1. What a shame that the Austwick fell race clashed with the Ilkley Trail . A good short report by Sara R. that as well did a strong race finishing in 1.25 . Caron R. did well this 8 miles of this tough fell race in 1.19 , a brilliant time to do . Also my friend Donald did an excellent fell race in 1.29 . Well done all .
