Sunday 4th August – 32nd Foulees de Longemer 10k race, Vosges, France.

Report from Sara Richard:

Having arrived at the campsite in Xonrupt-Longemer, Vosges, France on Friday 2nd August I found out about the very popular 10k road race on the 4th.
Having completed the entry form, it was also obligatory to provide a certificat d’aptitude or proof of fitness. Luckily, I had my UKAA card which was accepted.
The race started on one side of the lake shaded by the tree covered hills and went gently downhill ,the other side of the lake was in the heat of the sun and uphill. You needed to complete just under two laps of the lake. The runners, Marshall’s and supporters were friendly and supportive.
At the finish there was a refreshment tent with various drinks, fruits, sweet bread, cake and a quality, high viz technical t- shirt for all finishers.
The race was won by Mohamed Moussaoui in 31.18 ( Athletic Vosges Entente Clubs), First female was Xenia Luxem in 39.07 ( Mt Zavaro) and despite melting in the heat I finished in 1hr 49 secs and had a fabulous time.

  1. I liked your short report from France and as well it useful to know that when on holiday abroad it is better to take the UKAA card with you , just in case you fancy some local race . For a two laps 10k around a lake , finishing in 60 minutes is a good time considering as well that was an undulating course and the heat was on one side of route. Well done to Sara R.
