Report from Nicola Swann:
On Saturday I ran in the Lakeland Trails race in Keswick. I would really recommend them as fun and friendly trail races in the Lakes. They aren’t particularly cheap but they are a great day out, as long as the weather is kind. Which it was this Saturday. I did combine it with Keswick parkrun at 9am before the race started at 11am as they started at the same park.
The route had some serious up hills, some glorious single track sections and some amazing views over Derwentwater (best viewed whilst walking the steep uphill ascent I found!), before a long sweeping decent back down to Fitz Park in Keswick.
The race was won by Billy Richardson of Irvine Running Club in 0:40:25. The first female was Helen Winskill of Keswick AC who finished 22nd in 0:48:23.
I finished 149th in 1:03:39. There were 358 runners in total.
Official Action shot picture. Shame about the metal fencing where they are restoring the path.
