Report from Liz Fawcett:
It was a good turnout for the black and whites with 9 of us entering the half marathon in perfect running conditions. It was sunny with cooling breeze and firm under foot mainly. It was my first time on this varied course. A mixture of tracks, fields, moors and very short distances on tarmac. I ran with Sara Richard and Hannah Lupton. Our race strategy was keep moving however slow, enjoy ourselves and complete the whole course together without injury! Those aims were successfully achieved apart from very quick fill up of my water at Withens and a photo stop at a really beautiful spot overlooking Haworth and it’s surroundings. The start was horrid steep up hill on tarmac straight away and continuing uphill to Penistone country park, short reprieve then a long steep ascent we named Mastiles Lane mark II ! That over and onto a lovely section contouring along a water course, nice easy soft short grass but it couldn’t last carried onto more rugged paths across the moors to Withens fuel stop. A really pretty section towards the end along streams and fields into Haworth then the horrid up hill end to the school again. Time 3 hrs 14. Back for delicious sloppy stew and a cuppa. We were last in for Otley AC but still smiling! The first male runner was Andy Robinson 1:48:44 , first Woman Lucy Collins 1:52:57.
Otley results: 44th Victoria Stainburn 2:11:11, 64th Louise Williams 2:19:27, 123rd John Dade 2:38:01, 147th Philip Robinson 2:46:05, 188th Josie Smith 3:05:54, 209th Hannah Lupton 3:14:46, 210th Sara Richard 3:14:48, 211th Liz Fawcett 3:14:51. Full results on Sportident here.
