Sunday 27th October – Bronte Way Fell Race

Report from Matt

On Sunday 27th Colin kindly gave me a lift to this BM 7.5 mile race. This is a linear (A to B) race, so we drove to the finish at Haworth, where we got on a bus that took us to the start at Wycollar. Its a very interesting village, with a fine Tithe barn and ruined hall – well worth a visit. After a lot of hanging around suddenly everybody set off – surprise start. Though we had showers before the start, it was a fine sunny day, and given the recent rain very damp underfoot. Off we raced up hill to run alongside a couple of reservoirs, a bit of the Penine way and then back into Haworth. Finished up a very busy main street. All finishers got a welcome pint and some tasty leek and potato soup.
1 Robin Howie, Wharfedale, 52.58
9 Emma Clayton, Leeds City, 1.01.16
89 Matt Podd, 01:28:34
103 Colin Best, 01:34:22
133 ran.

  1. 7.5 miles of well known footpaths that are usually very wet , Wycollar is where is the start of the Bouloworth Bog fell race, former President Matt P. did a brilliant performance finishing in a robust 1.28 . Also senior fell runner Colin B. did a splendid run crossing the finish line in a solid 1.34.

  2. Well done you two! I got dragged to Wycollar on days out as a kid, can’t say I appreciated it much!
