Brighouse resolution 10k – 5th Jan

Report from Lee Gumbrell

This new years resolutions included losing weight, running more races and sending in race reports so with that in mind I entered the Brighouse resolution 10k! Promises of a flat course were true but my lack of interest in the route meant I was unaware that it was 3 times out and back through an industrial estate! Highlights being the giant FIAT and Screwfix signs as well as a very neat set of traffic cones at the turn around. Anyway it may not have been beautiful but the race was well organised. Start time was at 7.15pm and race HQ was in a cosy warm pub opposite the start which gave me the added challenge of collecting my race number without collecting a pint of Guinness and crisps. Number collected and belly still empty I bumped into Tash at the start line in the Sainsbury’s carpark.

I ran as hard as I could after a week of christmas indulgence and was determined to get as good a time as possible. Still a fair way off of the winner but happy with a good effort early in the year! Happy 2020 Otley AC!

1st Male – Joseph Baker 36.01

  1. 43.10 for a boring 10km is not a bad result at all , considering as well that it is straight away after Christmas I would say that it is a good result , well done to Lee G. Also Natasha W. did well in this Brighouse 10k finishing in a strong 1.09 .
