November 14th – November 30th – Weeton Handicap
November’s Eric Smith Handicap trophy race was the 5 mile route based round the quiet country lanes of Weeton village. Nick Hodgkinson scored top points finishing first ahead of David Fox and Debra Mullen in 2nd and 3rd. Scott recorded the fastest time, which is a new course record. There were also several age best times from Catharine Dobson, Chris Brunold, Richard Smith, Rogan Ashton and Phil Robinson.
With just the Christmas Ken Dixon handicap to go the handicap table is very tight for the top 3 positions. Nick Hodgkinson leads on 99 points ahead of Antonio Cardinale and Catharine Dobson on 96 points, with James Dobson still in with a shout on 94.5 points. The best 7 rule also plays it’s part as all of those apart from Antonio have recorded at least 7 handicaps this year, see the full table here.
So it’s all to play for over the Christmas period who will come out on top?
Because of the closure of the Swinsty dam, the traditional Ken Dixon Christmas handicap will have an alternative route this year, see details here.

Fantastic pic Nick I like it , and congratulations for the brilliant victory also the time done of 43.07 is really good , well deserved after the long injury . Debra M. had a good run finishing in a robust 51.00 not bad at all . The fell runner Andrew R. once again performing on a road race , not a single section of off-road , he crossed the finish line in a strong 35.24 . Congratulations also to Scott H. for the extraordinary performance and the new race record finishing in a very fast fast 26.14. Well done all .
