Sunday 12th September – Vale of York Half Marathon

Report from Richard Smith:

On a busy race weekend,  4 Otley runners participated in the Vale of York Half Marathon. The course loops around country lanes on the outskirts of Selby. A slight breeze but near perfect conditions on what is a notoriously flat course.

Once again the star of the show was Scott Harrington, who tucked in behind the race leader for the first 4 miles before progressing and eventually winning comfortably by almost 90 seconds to record his FIFTH successive race victory. This currently ranks Scott as 5th fastest V40 runner over Half Marathon distance in Otley. Oh no wait, the UK!

Scott recorded a fantastic time of  1:09:22. First lady was Georgia Malir of Leeds City AC in 1:16:16 and 15th place overall.

For Otley, Richard Smith finished 16th place in a PB time of 1:16:26, Claire Howard finished 103rd in an excellent time of 1:28:36 whilst Caroline Rafferty also ran a new PB in a time of 2:07:39 finishing 376th overall.

461 participants took place in the event.
