Club veterans Carol and Mick both turned back the clock with great runs for the top 2,  2017 Eric Smith trophy winner Rob wasn’t far behind in third.  This was Carol’s first handicap win in 5 years.  Scott recorded the fastest time, a swift 26:05 and Verity the fastest ladies time, 37:42. 2021 Eric Smith Handicap Trophy – Race 2 – 2 Lap Burley-in-Wharfedale

February’s route is a new 5 mile, 2 lap circuit of Burley-in-Wharfedale starting from the bottom of Sandholme Drive.  Probably the best parking is down the old Ilkley Road, see map below. As always the Christmas handicap is also the decider for the Eric Smith handicap trophy, Nick had a 3 point lead over Antonio and Catharine Dobson.   Because Swinsty dam is closed for the winter this year’s Ken Dixon was a 3 loop route, the usual Timble village loop, followed by  loops of Fewston and Swinsty Hall. …and the winner is…. First devised in 1989 by Ken Dixon as a 2 loop route round Timble and Swinsty reservoir.  This year as Swinsty dam is out of action an extra loop has been added round Fewston village. November’s Eric Smith Handicap trophy race was the 5 mile route based round the quiet country lanes of Weeton village.  Nick Hodgkinson scored top points finishing first ahead of David Fox and Debra Mullen in 2nd and 3rd.  Scott recorded the fastest time,  which is a new course record.
