Report from Phil Robinson: Great results from OAC runners in the yorkshireman in spite of brisk winds! in the full marathon rob grant starred in 8th place, lee gumbrell and matt clegg together in 47th and 48th – well done guys! in the half, a brilliant 4th place by richard smith, terrific runs from graham lake and sara elliot 17th and 36th, Andy webster 66th and i was 68th out of 160 finishers. August 17th – 30th – Eric Smith Handicap Trophy Race 5 – Danefield Virtual Handicap

Tash Whitaker came out on top of the virtual Danefield Handicap a good lead over joint second Antonio and Nick,  Graham recorded the fastest time of 18:38. September’s Eric Smith Handicap trophy race will be the Thruscross Handicap It’s probably a good idea to have a reccie run prior to your virtual race effort, especially if you’ve not run this route before, giving loads of notice so that these could be done if wanted on club nights before it starts to get too dark . Virtual Fell Running Championships Race 2 Results

The second race in the virtual championship needed a distance of 8 miles with 1800ft ascent. 8 Otley runners completed the challenge in various locations such as Ilkley Moor, Simon’s Seat, Ingleborough and Great Whernside. The route had to include one ‘summit’ and limit the amount of road or good vehicle track so it felt like a proper fell race. Thursday 30th July – Liz Fawcett Leathley Handicap (Virtual)

Although it looks like there maybe a possibililty of racing resuming in August ??, with the current Covid 19 situation and water damage causing the closure of the Robinson library the decision has been made to cancel this years race. Look forward to see you all back in 2021.
