Saturday 24th February: National Cross Country Race Parliament Hill, London

Saturday 24th February: National Cross Country Race Parliament Hill, London

Two powerful Otley AC teams made the long trip down to London for the National Cross Country Race (Although I got a number 44 bus from Battersea) The Otley AC Senior Ladies Team (aka Rachael Wright) had a stonking run, coming in 654th place, out of 1113, in a time of 42:54 (The winner was Phoebe Law from Kingston AC in a time of 28:33.) Rachaels great race was even more brilliant because she carried two small kittens round with…

Saturday 24th February – Eccup Alwoodley Lane Handicap

Saturday 24th February – Eccup Alwoodley Lane Handicap

David Cattanach romped to an easy win at a cold and sunny Eccup reservoir.  Ursula just caught Laura for second.  Lizzie had the honour of recording the fastest time of the day, which I am pretty sure is the first time a woman has the fastest time in 30+ years of Otley AC handicaps! Update:  Lizzie is the 3rd woman the third woman to record the fastest time, after Anne Pickles, Eccup New Inn, Oct. 2012 & Sharron Smith, Thruscross,…

Sunday 18th February 2018 – Liversedge Half Marathon

Report from Billy Following injury, no training and having missed Brass Monkey & Dewsbury 10k I decided to run the Liversedge Half which I had also pre-entered. Usually race day at Liversedge consists of wind, rain, sleet or snow (usually all four!) but conditions were perfect which is more than could be said of my fitness. Knowing it was going to be slow I set off steady and at the back and steadily got slower especially in the later stages…

Saturday 17th February – Flower Scar Fell Race

Saturday 17th February – Flower Scar Fell Race

Todmorden has a newly refurbished cricket club, so holding Flower Scar fell race (AM 8.3 miles 2,165ft ascent) as their first event made for plenty of warning signs and tiptoeing around race hq. After a swift kit check and sign in, I’d paid my fiver and was on the start line with two other black and whites.   The start of the race is a dash through the park until you reach the woods where the single file ascent starts on…
