Sunday 17th November – West Park Leeds

Sunday 17th November – West Park Leeds

Report from the Hon. Handicapper Early confidence of a decent finish quickly evaporated as I felt a persistant ‘pain in the backside‘ after just a couple minutes  of running.  This reduced my aim to just making it to the finish without the pain getting any worse. I managed to do that so it’s a case of forgetting it and on to the next one… The course was held round the fields just north of the Beckett Park track and was…

Sat. 26th & Sun. 27th – The OMM

Report from Sarah Fuller 6pm Saturday evening and whilst most normal people are preparing to go out I’m lying in a space in which a 5 year old would struggle to fit, in the corner of a field in the Brecon beacons that is slowly but surely turning into a paddy field. The rain is hammering down and the wind is periodically flattening the tent and threatening to rip it to pieces. I’m cooking our ‘meal’ in a tiny pan…

Sunday 29th September – Jack & Jill’s race Ilkley

Running couples across the North of England travelled miles to compete in Wharfedale Harriers inaugural ‘couples‘ relay race for across Ilkley moor from Darwin gardens to Dick Hudsons and back. The Hon. handicapper and Caron were Otley’s sole representatives on the start line.  After a quick briefing from the race organiser, the handicapper moved quickly to the front of the field, closely followed by the host club’s Chris Newman.  Despite pushing hard on the initial steep climb past White Wells…

Sunday 4th August – Round Hill Fell Race

Sunday 4th August – Round Hill Fell Race

Thanks to all who helped out at the Round Hill this morning.   The showers forecast for 12.00pm failed to materialise, leaving warm conditions, cooled in places a bit by the stong breeze.  122 started out and all returned with no accidents or incidents.   For the first time in a few years the usual knee deep bogs where generally only ankle deep which I’m sure disappointed a few, maybe… Richard Pattinson,(56:09), claimed his 5th win in the 11th running our…

Friday 5th – Sunday 7th July – Wharfedale TTT

Late news!  A glorious weekend and a rich variety of hard racing organised by Bingley Harriers all based from Kettlewell, the Triple T of Tarmac, Tussocks and Trail. Friday’s race is a brutal up hill only road race up Park Rash of approximately 2.5 miles,  I struggled a bit after the 1 in 4 switch back turn at half way but was happy enough with a 2nd place,  20:33 behind the host club’s Martin Peace, 20:19. Saturday is a long,…

Thursday 16th June – Stainburn Club Handicap

First back on the night around the Leathley Handicap (6.2 miles) were Sara & Laura, but this was unfotunately because of some navigational problems… first to complete the course in full was Richard well clear of Matt and Liz Fawcett, the course designer.  Thanks to the Liz Ashton for helping out on time-keeping duties after calling it a day due to a sore knee.  Unsurprisingly Ian recorded the fastest time of the night. The overall handicap points are now much…
