Thursday 1st January – Hardmoors 30

Neil Charlton reports: This was my second ‘mini ultra’ in a month, the idea being that stringing a few together would yield better results! I’m not sure that worked this time but it was a great day out besides the weather which was windy and wet. Starting in Robin Hoods Bay which is about 6 miles south of Whitby, the course was a sort of figure of 8 using the start / finish as the centre point. The first 13…

Saturday 22nd June – The Wall Run. Hadrians Wall

Report from Neil Charlton: Carlisle to Newcastle following Hadrian’s Wall. 69 miles / 111 kms. Race won by Sonia Bracegirdle in 10:53:29. First placed male was Michael Evans in 11:01:21. It took a while to get back up to a decent…

Sunday 20th June – Settle Hills Fell Race

7mls 1750ft Report from Colin Best: A lovely warm dry day so fancied heading out to enter this race. There seems always to be a surprisingly small entry for this race but was pleased to see Martin to double the Otley contingent. Martin pulled me round the…

Hutton Roof Fell Race – 29th May 2010

7ml 1300ft The finish of my holiday coincided with this fell race. I have done it before and enjoyed it but the weather this time nearly put me off. Heavy rain increasing wind and cold wasn’t an inspiring start but I had packed my gloves so no excuse. Shame about the gala associated with the race but the llamas were feeling better once there jackets were in place. As for the run this is largely a trail race, however the…

Crinan Puffer – 16th May 2010

Crinan Puffer – 16th May 2010

Report from Colin Best: First day on holiday and noticed this race just a few miles from our lodgings so couldn’t resist. This was the inaugural race of the Crinan Puffer . It started in Ardrishaig just south of Lochgilphead in Argyll and ran the length of the Crinan canal to Crinan itself. All proceeds were in aid of the local swimming pool which is threatened with closure. Running along the towpath all the way, meant that there was a very…
