The club’s annual awards evening takes place on Friday 24 January. It’s our main social event of the year and it’s where awards such as Runner of the Year and the President’s Trophy are handed out; and it’s also a great evening to get to know other members away from plodding the pavements! Further to Hannah’s earlier emails, if you haven’t renewed your subs you will now have been resigned from the club. If you haven’t received Hannah’s emails and still wish to remain a member please pay £35 immediately. The bank details can be found on the application form on the website. Also please email Hannah at info@otleyac.org.uk with your up to date contact details and stating the date when payment was made.

The latest updates to the Fell Runner of the Year table are out, very close at the top, Colin trailing the lead by less than a point, but Phil has a race in hand. Caron looks set to win the women’s title and currently 6th overall. Final race of the season, is Vocation Mytholmroyd 8th December. It’s still not too late to nominate a wild card race to elevate your final position!

Come along for an alternative club night at Yorkshire Runner. This will give you a chance to try out new shoes from Brooks and VJ. There will be no training from the cricket club on this date, so we will split into our usual groups and run from the shop. Tuesday Graham and Sara will be leading a speed session along Mill Way. There’ll be a warm up run there along Manor St/Buon Apps/new estate. *this session is suitable for ALL abilities* Billy’s group is doing Cambridge, Birdcage… There may be a faster road/off road option too. Thursday 7th: Billy’s group will be doing new estate-golf club Sara’s group will do a Burley loop. Again, there’ll be an off road option.

A big thanks to everyone who helped out to make another successful race, and to Martin Bullock who sacrificed his own race to help out an injured runner. A muggy day and wetter ground than last year, didn’t stop Tom Adams breaking last year’s course record by about 1 minute and a half in a time of 50:41,  2nd across the line was Nathan Edmondson, but unfortunately missed the third checkpoint.  So on reflection 2nd place went to Andrew Brown…

A rainy registration thankfully eased for the race.  Roundhay Runners won the main race and the women’s, York Knavesmire taking the mixed team prize in a new record by more than two minutes, full Senior results here. Training this week- Tuesday 13th: Billy’s group is doing Railway Line-Chevin Inn. Billy will be leading the steadier end so may need a volunteer to lead the faster ones up front (Depends on who turns up with holidays etc). Sara’s group will do Railway line-golf course-Burley Thursday 15th is Wharfemeadows Handicap with drinks/social at the club afterwards. Everyone welcome including juniors and beginners.
