This month’s handicap is a revival of sorts of an old handicap round the Weston Estate, the old route was a 2 lap course that ran down Weston Lane, to Weston Drive, Meagill Rise, Weston Ridge, the Oval and Newall Avenue and was about 3.5ish miles.  To extend this to 5 miles & add  a couple of hills I’ve added a loop up Rumplecroft, St Davids & St Richards. September’s Eric Smith Handicap trophy race will be the Thruscross Handicap It’s probably a good idea to have a reccie run prior to your virtual race effort, especially if you’ve not run this route before, giving loads of notice so that these could be done if wanted on club nights before it starts to get too dark . Although it looks like there maybe a possibililty of racing resuming in August ??, with the current Covid 19 situation and water damage causing the closure of the Robinson library the decision has been made to cancel this years race. Look forward to see you all back in 2021.

Yes, it’s that time of year again – Harrogate League time! You can sign on here https://racebest.com/races/x6k89. If you’re new to the club the league is a series of evening events all approx 10k. There are four evening races plus a handicap (which we are hosting), and each with a buffet afterwards. The club’s annual awards evening takes place on Friday 24 January. It’s our main social event of the year and it’s where awards such as Runner of the Year and the President’s Trophy are handed out; and it’s also a great evening to get to know other members away from plodding the pavements!
