18th – 31st January – Eric Smith Handicap Trophy – Weston Lane

The Eric Smith handicap Trophy for 2021 started with the 2 lap Weston Lane route.  We last used this route back in 2001, so it would give the older members a perfect chance to see how much we’ve slowed in 20 years 😂  In fact there were 6 of us still going who’d previously done this handicap, Myself, Carol & John Armitstead, Phil Robinson, Mick Jeffrey & Antonio. 2018 handicap trophy winner Bob came home in first 25 seconds ahead…

Saturday 12th Dec – Short Circuit Ultra

Saturday 12th Dec – Short Circuit Ultra

Report from Graham Lake Trail – 33 miles 4000ft ascent   Having had to postpone this event from autumn, and re-route it to stay within the Tier 3 boundaries of West Yorkshire, Ryk Downes did a great job of getting this race on. I’d upped my mileage since summer, and was enjoying the longer runs while I have more time, and no other racing. The event was run in a socially distanced manner, starting at Station Top in Otley, with…

Sunday 6th December – Oulton Park Grand Prix Half Marathon

Report from Phil Robinson On the grounds that I could plausibly claim to be an elite athlete – (given England vest last year for 1/2 marathon and well up in age-group ranking this year for 10m and 20m)  – it seemed I was permitted to travel for competition – so I went to the motor racing circuit at Oulton Park to join in an extraordinary morning of running.  The marathon (10 laps of the motor circuit) started at 9am, then…

Sunday 1st November – Baildon Boundary Way

Sunday 1st November – Baildon Boundary Way

Report from Sara Richard This popular and challenging, multi terrain half marathon was postponed due to Covid from April to 1 November. The event was chip timed, socially distanced and had staggered starts. As I hadn’t raced since February, I had expected the event to be cancelled like so may other races have sadly had to. Great to know it was going ahead, although I was apprehensive as I hadn’t really trained. It felt great to put on my club…

Saturday 24th October – Clumber Park Duathlon

Report from Howard Jeffreys Remember ‘I’ll be back’! Well that’s me that is. For one race only this year. I did no training all year until they announced Park runs would start at the end of October ( yeh right). So at the beginning of September I climbed off the couch and shuffled through a few weeks of training. Out of the blue came an email to say Clumber Park duathlon was ON…Albeit in the adjacent Thoresby Park. I had…

Sunday 25th October – Dave MacDonald Haltemprice 10k

Report from Joanna Hobson On Sunday I was very fortunate to take part in the 34th running of this event named in honour of its founder Dave MacDonald of Haltemprice RRC. Due to Covid19 this was my first (and probably last) race of the year so it felt really special to be racing again. The organisation of this race was absolutely superb. Race entries all had to be complete one week prior to the event and you had to give…
