Saturday 16th February – Eric Smith Trophy Race 2 – Wellington Handicap

Former Eric Smith Trophy champions finished in the top two, with Rob, (2017 winner),  coasting to an easy win ahead of the 2005 victor Paul Clifford.  Even though Rob has won the overall handicap title this was his first win in 17 races.  The sunny weather brought out the spectators from the village and the club, offering support and abuse on the three lap course.   Tom Paget recorded the fastest time of the day moving through the field to fourth. …

OAC Annual Awards 2019

President’s Trophy: Hannah Lupton – From being the first contact for many of our new members to our resident bailiff when it’s subs renewal time, she is well known to everyone in the club. She works tirelessly in her capacity as Membership Secretary but also supports the treasurer, president and secretary in many of their duties too. Her no-nonsense, potty mouth approach hides a heart of gold and it is due to her commitment to the Otley AC that Hannah Lupton…

Dewsbury 10k Sunday 3rd Feb

Dewsbury 10k Sunday 3rd Feb

Report from Howard Jeffrey This is a fast straight out and back 10K that is rising in popularity each year with 2000 entrants for today of whom 1714 finished. They had sensibly colour coded the numbers based on expected finish time although the ‘slow’ numbers seemed to be a long way back from the start. I was in the second echelon and moved as close to the start as numbers allowed and it still took 34 seconds to cross the start…

Saturday 26th-Sunday 27th January: Marmot dark mountains

Saturday 26th-Sunday 27th January: Marmot dark mountains

Report from Sarah F… This was my third running of this winter pairs event and as the name suggests it involves mountains and er darkness ! It’s perhaps the most challenging, unusual and strangely appealing event in the mountain marathon calendar, taking the usual 2 day / overnight wild camp format and squeezing it into one dusk till dawn extravaganza. I hadn’t run the event since 2014  (due to being involved in Spine race shenanigans in January for a few…

Saturday 26th January – Northern Cross Country – Pontefract Racecourse

Saturday 26th January – Northern Cross Country – Pontefract Racecourse

Pontefract racecourse is designed as a place for thoroughbred horses, but for one day the human versions took centre stage, with high quality races throughout the day.  The sharp end of the senior women’s race was stacked with internationals, eventually woman by the Scottish Cross country champion, so Becky and Vicky had great runs finishing 122nd & 68th.  As did all of the juniors, Howard and Antonio.  See Otley’s results below and a full set of results here. Report from…
