Sunday 17th November – Tadcaster 10

Sunday 17th November – Tadcaster 10

Report from Howard Jeffrey On Saturday I tried to get a better time at the Temple Newsam parkrun for the Leeds race series. It was a heroic failure by 30 seconds. I neither gained nor lost ground but it was not the best prep for the Tadcaster 10 today. A revised start made for an improved route and I settled in behind a couple who I have been racing with and against for the last 25 years. They set a…

Sunday 17th November – West Yorks. Cross Country League Race 3

Another local race, this time at West Park next to the Leeds Met Beckett Park campus.  The course had lots of sloppy mud for all but the start and finishing straights.  Full results here.  Sure there’ll be plenty of photos of the fun on Woodentops shortly. Saturday 16th November – Tour of Pendle

Saturday 16th November – Tour of Pendle

Report from Stephen Boddy Tour of Pendle 16.7m, 4500ft I have always thought the fell relays were my favourite part of being a member of a running club, but they may have been usurped by a Saturday for the ages. Graham’s party bus picked me up at 8:45 and we were on our way, managing a whole four miles before everyone needed to get out and have a wee. Graham, Rich and Rob all seemed a bit nervous which was…

Sunday 10th November – Bolton Abbey Trail Half-Marathon

Sunday 10th November – Bolton Abbey Trail Half-Marathon

Report from Rob Grant: Great course in and around the grounds of Bolton Abbey and the moors beyond – tracks, paths, mud and moorland. No tarmac. Very runnable but very challenging at the same time. Something in this one for everyone – try it. Great atmosphere – low-key charity-focused event, but good support on the way round, helped by the fact that the three distances (10k, 10m, half-marathon, plus a 2m run for the kids) had overlapping and intertwining routes….

Saturday 9th November – Burley Moor (Summer Festival) Race

Saturday 9th November – Burley Moor (Summer Festival) Race

6.8 Miles 1300ft Ascent The usual good turn out for this lovely, local and low-key race. With a break in the damp weather came almost perfect running conditions, with little wind and good visibility. The race is a ‘lolipop’ route from the cricket pavilion in Burley in Wharfedale, following a footpath over soggy fields, across the moor road, and steeply up for a loop of the moor. It was pretty damp underfoot, but not too bad. 1st Male was Jack…

Saturday 9th November – Post Hill Challenge

Saturday 9th November – Post Hill Challenge

Report from Howard: Anyone who has read enough of my race reports will know that my preferred terrain is tarmac as in ‘road race’. I do however, often venture out of my comfort zone so that when I have to, I can handle the course , whatever it is. On Saturday, as part of the Leeds race series I did the Post Hill Challenge. This is way beyond the comfort zone and into the twilight zone! They used to race…
