Report from Matt Podd: I ran this multi terrain race on Thursday evening with 462 others in very humid conditions. The course was a convoluted route around the slopes below Horsforth with plenty of hills, starting and finishing at Woodhouse Grove School. We were all awarded a bottle of beer, commemorative opener and a Mars bar for our sweaty efforts. Won by John Hobbs in 35.03, with the first woman Ali White, 38th in 40.45. I was 208th in 51.17…

Monday May 27th London 10000m

Report from Natasha Whitaker (Tash!) I’ve taken on this particular run a few times before – having lived in London for almost 3 and a half years, I’ve got a strong connection with the place and it’s a great opportunity to run on some of the city’s most famous streets traffic free. I was particularly looking forward to it this time having hobbled slowly round last year due to an injury. There seemed to be a lot more people…

Monday 27th May – Ilkley Trail Race – 6.9m 700ft

Monday 27th May – Ilkley Trail Race – 6.9m 700ft

Report from Graham Lake: Despite having raced twice already this week I decided I’d still do this local trail race which I’ve run once before. After the junior races finished (after a small detour in the woods for some!) the seniors set off up Curly Hill, and soon in to Middleton Woods before the ascent of the moor. It’s all on runnable trails, but I soon realised the previous two races had taken their toll and I had nothing. It…

Sunday 26th May – Melmerby 10k

Sunday 26th May – Melmerby 10k

Report from Howard: Today was the 35th running of the Melmerby 10k and I have done most of them. They usually take place in blistering  hot sun with the heat beating back off the tarmac. Much of the route is along sunken roads with hedges so can be a stifling affair. When I picked up my number the sky was really dark and there was a fine drizzle. At last I thought a cool running Melmerby. Whilst waiting for brother…

Thursday 23rd May – Danefield Handicap

Race 5 of the Eric Smith trophy at Danefield proved as popular as ever, (Half points for this one).  Soon to be member up from the beginners Tom continued this year’s easy win theme, finishing over a minute and a half clear of Geoff and returning to fitness Maddie.  And it was good to see all the juniors having good runs on a perfect evening for running, including birthday boy Aston.  It was also birthday congratulations to Matt Podd, apologies…

Saturday 18th May – Cader Idris Mountain Race

Saturday 18th May – Cader Idris Mountain Race

Report from Matt Podd We spend a lot of time in Mid Wales, as we have a cottage there and I had known about this race for a long time. It is the areas premier fell race, from the centre of Dolgellau to the summit of Cader Idris and back. 11 miles with 3000ft of ascent. It’s a very popular race with all the places selling out in 2hrs. So there I was on Saturday lunchtime in the square at…
