Ackworth Half Marathon – Mon 22nd April

Ackworth Half Marathon – Mon 22nd April

Report From Ex Pres Matt Podd In a moment of madness I entered this, run on Bank Holiday Monday. Fairly hot morning for racing, but off we went for a tour of backroads from Ackworth, just south of Pontefract. An undulating course with one hill, and an uphill finish. The only exitement was a runner collapsing in front of me – but he had support and got up and started walking. Won by Stewart Knowles, Wakefield Harriers in 1.17.42 and…

Guiseley Gallop 21st April 2019

Guiseley Gallop 21st April 2019

Report From Howard ‘Thomas Hardy’ Jeffrey This race was in my training plan for the World age group duathlon and aquathlon championships in Spain next week. I also stuck in a couple of standard duathlons in the previous two weeks to get some overdistance in. They were both very hard slogs into cold and bleak winds. Today we were treated to exceptionally warm conditions which added to the test that this hilly two lap course already is. This race is…

Sunday 7th April: Manchester Marathon

Sunday 7th April: Manchester Marathon

Report from Andy Webster: This was my fourth attempt at running this race, it is a nice and flat course with good crowd support. The race conditions were nearly perfect cool and dry. I had trained pretty well for this race, but from many previous bad experiences of blowing up at anywhere between 16-22 miles I made a conscious effort to run within myself setting a pace of 8-8:30 minutes per mile for as long as I could maintain it….

Saturday 6th April – Buckden Outmoor Fell Race

Saturday 6th April – Buckden Outmoor Fell Race

Report from Colin Best: I haven’t been around for many fell races so far this year but with the weekend training in the lakes I thought I would give this one ago. I was a beautiful day and where better to be. Pre race I met up with Tanya Shepherd, Sharon Smith and past member Dale Foster. The route follows the main route up Buckden Pike, and for those slightly better than me, is largely runnable. This was well and…
