Sunday 8th Oct – Yorkshire Marathon & 10 Mile

Sunday 8th Oct – Yorkshire Marathon & 10 Mile

Marathon Report from Andy Webster My target at the start was to beat 4 hours which I did finishing in 3:57:31. A little disappointed as hit the wall around mile 22 and could not find anyway to boost my speed up. However another marathon completed and had 4 weeks disrupted training with cricket, holidays, and injury. At the moment planning on a marathon free year in 2018. But will probably do another one in the future, injury and illness permitting….

Saturday 7th October – The Colin Best Calverley Handicap

Saturday 7th October – The Colin Best Calverley Handicap

A handicap veteran of more than 200 races, Tom easily won his 11th, finishing a couple of minutes clear of Ian.  Inevitably Ian recorded the fastest time of the day, just a little slower than his course record. With just two races to go, Weeton in November and the December’s Ken Dixon the race for this year’s title looks like a battle between Rob Fearnley, Laura Hind and Antonio on 156, 142 and 138 points respectively.  See the full table here. …

Sunday 1st October – Hodgson Brothers Mountain Relay

Report from Tom Lynch: Such a contrast to last year, this years running of the HBMR, a paired 4 stage mountain relay set in and around Patterdale, was a reduced and re-routed course owing to bad weather on the day, and Saturday’s surface water flooding around Windermere. Heavy rain, mist and wind were all forecast for the day, and at one point the race was nearly cancelled. The altered course followed an out and back route using only Legs 1…

Sutton-on-the-Forest 10k – 24th September 2017

Sutton-on-the-Forest 10k – 24th September 2017

Report From Tony Walker For someone who doesn’t do nearly enough racing it’s amazing that this is third time I have done this event.  Sutton in the forest is a lovely little village about 8 miles north of York and a their ‘playing fields association’ arrange this 10k event each year. I don’t think I’ve ever known a place to have a ‘playing field association’. It was a very nice playing field. The course set off – from the playing…

Sunday 24th September – Harrogate Haverah Trail 10

Report from Billy On leaving Otley with Vicky Stainburn we thought we were in for a hot day but arriving at Beckwithshaw it was foggy and cold. The damp cricket pitch and the number of cars skidding trying to park up were an indication of the wet/muddy conditions that lay ahead. We soon met up with Joanna H, Sara R, Nicky G, Lizzie I, Rob F, Rogan A and Phil R shortly before the start. As start time approached the…
