Thursday 9th August – Kings Challenge

Thursday 9th August – Kings Challenge

Report from Phil Robinson: Although this evening event was three weeks ago the results have only just been published. The route is from the King’s Arms in Silsden, 6 miles and 1175 feet, out and back in a southeasterly direction. Those older runners who remember the old Rivock Edge course from the 1990s would be familiar with the steady climb form the park in Silsden up via Swartha to the steep escarpment overlooking the Aire valley. After the climb we…

Saturday 4th August – Borrowdale Fell Race

Saturday 4th August – Borrowdale Fell Race

Report from Joe Torr: Borrowdale Fell Race AL – 16 miles 6500 ft After doing no specific training for Borrowdale I’d forgotten how hard the race was since four years previous. After having a good climb up Bessyboot and run around Glaramara and up on to Scafell I was feeling pretty good and chatting to a bloke from Nottingham about finishing in 3.45. After coming off the corridor route and starting up Great Gable I ran out of water and…

Sunday 5th August – Round Hill Fell Race

See the full set of results here, a few more photos here. Would the record go this year?…. Certainly helpful bone dry underfoot conditions but this was negated to some extent with the sticky 24, 25 degree heat, and yes it was.  Richard Pattinson’s course record was  broken in style by City of York’s Tim Stratton, 53:07.  He was chased hard by Will Simmons from Ilkley who also dipped under the record with 53:36.  The Vets category prizes went to…

Sunday 5th August – Asda York 10k

Report from Howard Jeffrey: I like to do this race for two reasons: it goes through the beautiful city of York where the crowds are out in force to cheer us on and secondly there is nothing much else on in August! Apparently I also became a ‘hero’ for finishing this one. I set off early for the venue because it can get very busy and after a bit of a queue parked in my usual spot ready for a…

Harrogate and District Summer Race League final positions

Harrogate and District Summer Race League final positions

Without a handicap race this year, here are the final positions of the league: Harrogate won the main competition comfortably, followed by Ripon and Nidd Valley. This competition is based on the top 10 finishers from each club (men and ladies), so those clubs who pack the top 50 do well. It’s worth noting that these 3 clubs often have up to twice the entries of other clubs in the league. Otley finished 7 overall, and got a really good…
