Sunday 2nd February – Dewsbury 10k

Report from Andy Webster:

Perfect running conditions with little wind. I lined up at the start not knowing what to expect as having done a few weeks of good mileage but little speed was not sure how quick I would be. Luckily seemed to be over my recent virus and my wheezy chest has settled down. Felt quite strong going out and got to 5 K in just under 24 minutes. Kept strong coming down hill and managed a negative split (one of the few races I can manage this) and ran just under 23 minutes. Overall happy with the time, maybe if the training goes well can get a bit quicker over the season.
Very good run from Scott who whizzed past. Billy had times his carbo load well on Friday and ran better than his Saturday park run.

Winner Chris Parr Morpeth Harriers 29:57
Scott Harrington 5th 31:33
Me 760 46:55
Billy 1420 in 56:28
First Female Alice Leake Leeds City AC 35:05

Ed footnote on Scott Harrington…31.33 was another pb which puts him up to 5th fastest vet40 in the country. That is some standard. This compliments his no 1 standing for the half marathon. At Dewsbury his splits were 16.08 for the 1st 5k and 15.25 for the second. Fantastic pacing. Mark Hall also towed the start line but had to pull out with an hamstring issue so his V60 record breaking start is on hold!

  1. Just a fabulous time to do by Scott H. in this Dewsbury 10k , Scott finished in a very super fast time of of 31.33 , it is like flying really . It is a shame that Mark H. had to pull out . Andy W. did well too , he crossed the finish line in a robust 46.55. President Billy R. did a brilliant run finishing in a good 56.29 .
