Sunday 26th July – St Aidan’s Virtual 10k

Another race report, this one being my first and perhaps only report on a ‘virtual’ race.

I’m not normally a big fan of these ‘virtual’ races but this was a bit different. There was a proper marked course, numbers, start/finish line, a medal etc – it was just like a proper race but with no marshals, no mass start (in fact a

start of one – you had a set period in which to turn up, run, and send your own time in), no queues for the bogs – and I quite enjoyed it. I’ll be back again one day, and hopefully that time it will be to do the race proper.

Callum Elson won it in 33:20 (or so he says). First lady was Sarah Hunter in 39:06. I finished in 12th place (2nd MV45) in 38:07. No-one else from OAC did this one. Full results here:

  1. 38.07 really it is not a bad result for this virtual 10k , because it makes quite a difference to have other runners to run with , and especially your usual rivals around you , to push you to go faster and the great motivation to beat them on the finish line . Well done to Rob Grant .
